Starting "In hand work"
This is how a horse moves when it is out of balance and on the forehand. Head and bum in the sky, low withers and hollow back, and hind legs out behind.
This is how a horse can move once the person lunging has been taught how to balance and engage the horse with the lunging half halt! The haunches will lower, the hind legs step under, the back and withers raise and the neck therefore naturally hangs forward as it is no longer needed to balance the horse. This allows the horse to move with double the suspension and double the ground cover.

Training the horse from the ground is incredibly valuable. One of my specialties is training the horse and owner the art of lunging, long lining and ‘in hand work’ including lateral work, square halt, rein back, piaffe and passage. As well as being incredibly good fun, this training can be used as both remedial therapy and to prevent physical or behaviourial problems starting in the first place. Hugely beneficial for both horse and rider in developing timing, co-ordination, suppleness, strength and confidence.

I offer remote training sessions via FaceTime etc and video analysis sessions.
